Hapy Maher Review

【ハピメア】応援バナー

At last, I finished reading through Hapy Maher, the newest visual novel from PurpleSoftware. If folks remember from my previous post, PurpleSoftware used to be a powerhouse in visual novels (and also, one of the oldest creator that still survived until today!) before seeing a decline in their quality lately. Their later works, one being Mirai Nostalgia, is their reversal to their previous quality and Hapy Maher does justice to their hype. One of the best visual novel I have read lately.

ouch
The story starts with our protagonist, Naitou Tooru, who just had his routines of lucid dreams. His routines of lucid dreams started when he was involved in an accident years ago, where he was once lost and found in bad conditions before brought into hospital. His routines of lucid dreams caused him unable to have a good rest and meaning he can only rest when he unconscious from exhaustion. One night in the lucid dream, Tooru met Maia Ahm*d that sings Dear Diary (of course not), and Maia Ahm*d claimed that all the dreams are all her doing. Now, Tooru has to defeat Maia and end his suffering once and for all!!! And the battle manga begin!! (you wish xD)

The theme of lucid dreams is one phenomenon that now is getting widely known. For PurpleSoftware to bring it up immediately is a good action. We would think that using a sudden theme that still has not many coverage would bring not so good quality, but actually it is good! Everything was well-thought and the story was fresh.

Moreover, the SDCGs were good, as you can see above xD

Now, onto the scores. Baaaadum tsss xD:

Story 9.0/10
Premise of the story was well-thought. The true route is strong, plus the characters were likeable. Unfortunately, individual routes were quite average, and very similar to your typical visual novel. Even so, the development of characters during their respective route was notable.
Graphics 10.0/10
Incredibly drawn. Everything was beautiful, the backgrounds, the CGs, the characters design, and specially. the SDCGs. I rarely seen those CGs that kind of giving you the feel of omochikaeri xD
Sound 10/10
Hapy Maher rules it all. The soundtracks were good, it just lingers on your brain. The voice actors also very indulged in their characters. Everything was great.
Personal Opinion 9.0/10 --> 18/20 (x2)
Truly a return of the great king. PurpleSoftware has been in visual novel industry since the 1990s, and it's great to see them giving their good titles once again. Apparently I will see their future titles, and also their previous title Mirai Nostalgia that by some people says that the true route is powerful xD
Overall 47/50 (94%)
Great title from PurpleSoftware. An all-around title, good in their graphic and music department, which I think will make many people that prefers one of those department satisfied. Looking forward to the next title! ^o^
